The Story Behind
Women’s Education Matters

Women’s Education Matters was born from a personal journey and a vision to empower women through education. The founders, originally from Pakistan, witnessed systemic barriers that limited girls’ access to education. In rural areas, girls often left school by fourth grade, expected to focus on household duties and early marriages. These norms stifled their dreams and potential.

The turning point came when one founder saw her cousin’s educational aspirations cut short, leading to a life dictated by societal expectations. This deeply personal experience inspired the creation of Women’s Education Matters, with the mission of breaking these cycles and creating opportunities for women to achieve independence through education.

Women’s Education Matters is committed to creating educational opportunities for women and girls worldwide. In Pakistan, the organization aims to build schools in rural areas, providing affordable, high-quality education tailored to needs. These schools empower young women to break free from societal limitations and achieve their full potential.

Globally, the organization aims to expand into underserved regions to address educational inequities and create sustainable systems for learning. In Canada, it focuses on establishing women’s hubs—safe spaces where newcomer and marginalized women can share stories, address barriers, and access vital resources. These hubs host workshops led by accomplished women and offer 24/7 support to foster empowerment and community.

Through its global mission, Women’s Education Matters seeks to ensure that education becomes a right accessible to all, regardless of geography or circumstances.
